Hi all
I have taken some videos on my iphone and ipad and uploaded them to my Windows PC. They are stored in My Pictures in Quicktime format. Im trying to burn them on to DVD. I have a DVD writer. I know i have to convert the Quicktime videos into another format and have downloaded Any Video Converter. Question is, what format do they need to be in, to enable them to burn to a DVD and play on a normal DVD player?

Ive tried AVCHD and NTSC but when I go into my DVD writing software, which is Nero, and go to the folder where they are stored, they dont show up. I'm guessing this is because they aren't in the right format, but I'm a bit lost to be honest.

Can anyone help, in not too technical language?

Many thanks

Yes, sorry but I thought you were aware that you would need to create the DVD files as well. If you have Nero Vision simply run the file through that and it will create the files you mention. If you don't have nero vision I can recommend this free converter/burner which will do the job in one operation. i.e. convert / burn....

In Any Video Converter select the clip that you want to convert.
Then in the top right drop down box select - DVD Video PAL (*.mpg)
Then click convert.

Once converted you can use Nero to burn the DVD

Thanks Chrisgel. I'm just trying it now so hopefully it will work!
No problem just shout if you have any more problems with it.

I still can't get it to work. When I open the folder in Nero where the converted videos are stored, it says 'no compatible files found', and a message comes up saying 'It does not reside in the VIDEO-TS directory of a DVD-Video compliation. Use authorising software like Nero Vision to create DVD-video files from standard video files such as .avi and *.mpg'.

It gives a list of acceptable formats, as follows, but AVC doesn't seem to convert to any of these formats.
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.VOB
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VTS_nn_O.IFO
VTS_nn_O.VOB
VTS_nn_O.BUP
VTS_nn_m.VOB

Any ideas?

Many thanks

This is from a well trusted site and will not give you any extras.
If you do decide to use this remember the format you want is PAL

Thanks Chrisgel, no I was not aware that I had to create the DVD files as well. I don't have Nero Vision so I'll try the site you suggested.

I didn't know burning the videos to DVD would be so time consuming!

Thanks for your help.
Please hold on before downloading the file I recommended. I have just looked and they have now put limitations on it.
I will have a look for an alternative.
Found this one which includes a full explanation. Checks out OK
Sorry for not checking the other one sooner.

Thanks Jelina.

Does anyone know of a software product I can buy in the shops that does the job? I'm a bit wary of downloading stuff from the Internet and a lot of them want you to register which I didn't really want to do.

I looked at Nero 12 but really had no idea what I was looking for!
