Why Won't My Desk-Top Show My Emails?

About a week ago my desk-top computer stopped displaying my emails. (I work Windows XP) with Orange as as the provider.)

I can send emails. I can also read my emails if I get onto the Orange website and click on the READ EMAILS button. Also, surprisingly, they come through on my iPad. Which means that they getting to my house but not to my desk-top screen.
Any help will be gratefully received.
