the sidebar on the right keeps flashing up making my screen smaller also a large display clock comes up on the bottom left and although I can close them I would rather they didnt pop up at all so any help would be great, cant find anything in the manual unless I just cant see it, thanx

That's Windows 8 for you. The side bar (quaintly named the "charms bar") come up when you move the cursor to bottom right, and the clock comes up when you move the cursor over the charms bar.

from what I have checked out I think I am stuck with the "charms" popping up but if I master the avatar I think I might at least stop them popping up too often, thanx rojash, I know its also got windows 8 but am used to windows 7 so might look into trying to get it on here but my nephew says he doesn't think I can
