Is there any easy way to develop an App?

I've got an idea for an App, which I think would be very popular for mobile phones. I'm wondering are there any services which make it handy to develop Apps or do you need to be a programmer of some description?

MIT in the USA do an online "App Inventor" application so you don't need complicated programming skills. It's Android apps only though;
