I have a hard drive enclosure for a 2.5 hard drive. My hard drive has padding on sides and on top - and won't go into enclosure .Also enclosure can only be opened from the sides and not from top as it is sealed
Is it normal procedure to remove padding to get hard drive in enclosure?
(I have mangaed to connect h/drive and it works fine - it just doesn't have the enclosure protection)

It's not "normal" for the drives to have padding, if it has it then it's to do with the previous equipment the dive was installed in.

Just remove it.
