Just heard on the radio that the police responded to a report of cries of "Help...help....help" in a residential area. Turns out it was someone trying to get their cat, whose name was Help, in for the night.
Reminds me of a friend who called her cat Bu99er Off. Took the neighbours some time to work out why she stood in her garden every night shouting...."Bu99er Off......Bugger Of".

Lol :-) My dad friend used to have a dug called Doug... Always made me laugh!
I'm sure our older Dog, who likes a lot of attention, is covinced after 7 yrs that his name is "S0d off"

I was some what concerned about a neighbours random episodes of god bothering when i would hear loud shouts of hallelujah at odd hours of the day. All was revealed when I learned that it was her cooks name.
My cat answers to "The Sound Of A Tinopener"
...mmm....there were dog and cat names way back in the early 40s I recall that would most likely get you arrested today...........you will probably guess to which I am referring..........nothing was thought of it then but times have changed....for the better in this case I must say.

We did have a cat until a few years ago that lost an eye, a leg and half it's tail in a clash with a car....and I swear to big G that it's name was Lucky.

Know what you mean commoner. We had a cat who came to our cattery and had a name change when a family from abroad moved in next door.
lol...You got it gness.....
Blushmaking recollection of me & friend calling to a neighbour's labrador, Blackie, who'd got out onto the main road......noticed very annoyed coloured gentleman glaring at us.....toes curl even 40 years later.

I remember trying to explain why you would call a dog Dug - I think it was to his wife (she's from South of the border).

And trying to explain Mosaic, just makes it worse.
We were cool, sensitive urbanites - so we legged it.

Wolf. I lived in Corby for a while and thought every other dog was called Dug.
I rescued a cat from a roof and felt a berk calling "Sophocles"

I can picture you seadogg. Most of the cats we boarded were named by the woman. If the man brought the cat they would um and err before telling us it was called Flossy Poo or Tipsy Wipsy. Single male owners usually opted for boozy names....Whiskey or Brandy.
Sophocles wiped out our wrens for the good turn we did him. You are right gness, our married daughter has two rescues with pretty flowery names. My last cat was "Seth"

We had a client who phoned to book her nameless new cat in. She said they were considering Trevor. Told her that was the name of my ex-husband. When they arrived they said they didn`t want to upset me so they had called the cat Tyler. Never did tell her my ex was a tiler by profession.
Question Author
Wrens!!! Did you put him back on the roof? Seth......a dignified name.
..mmm..I remember the "N" word was a popular animal name in those days Mosaic..that was a real toecurling name eh?
My cat is called Morticia, which I have always shortened to Tish. No problem until I moved with her to Germany and I now have to stand outside calling for what sounds like a table (Tisch).
