Just had a disk failure, replaced and reinstalled everything.

I have an external HD docking unit, and back up to it once a week, so I lost nothing of any value.

When did you last back up? <]:-)

More importantly, are you backing up and keeping a copy in another room. Preferably in another building or are you backing up and just leaving it next to the PC where it's just as likely to get nicked/destroyed..... :)
I move important stuff and photos to an external hard drive..
Every Sunday 7pm
back up and defrag my data drive every Sunday morning. Once bitten etc.
Same like what Murraymints does.
Services like Dropbox can be useful for this kind of thing; on a smaller scale.
I never back up. I have no need to.
I don't back up, I have nothing on this PC that can't be reinstalled or replaced.

EB - I use 3 hard disks in sequence - two always live in another room. It's not perfect, but pretty good for my purposes, mostly personal - music and the like. I have some client work, but if the house burned down, there would be other problems!

I went to one firm who had been backing up religiously, but found that they had been backing up the standing info, but none of the current files for several months!
My photos and family history stuff, plus Mr Frog's work invoices and quotes, all get backed up on a weekly basis. Too precious to risk losing.

Really? Didn't you lose all your music due to a virus a while back? Have you learned nothing? ;-p
