Ive just received my AVG renewal notice. Is it worth having? I'm running Windows 7 and I seem to remember reading that the security elements that are built in are enough. Yes or no please. Many thanks

I have always used AVG free and never had problems, so try the free before you choose whether to pay for the extras
I used avg last year and I had nothing but trouble.
Get rid of AVG and install this:

I always used AVG until I got a new PC with W7 then it seemed to slow the PC down - switched to MS Security essentials and all is OK.
FBG40
Another freebie is Avast, which I have been running for two years with no problems, does not slow the PC down either whereas I felt that AVG did.
Most of the experts on here suggest MS Security Essentials along with Malwarebytes.
Personally I use Norton Internet Protection + Malwarebytes.

Thanks for the response folks. It seems that I can save my money. Every little helps as some one says!
The only time I've ever had a virus that really messed up my laptop was with the pay for version of AVG. I've used the free MS Security Essentials ever since with no problems so far.
