Can anybody reccomend a VERY simple to use twin receiver recorder for my elderly in-laws the simple to use the better.

I usually push Humax .. as they are intuitive machines with reasonably easy to use menus and features ..
9300 PVR may well be the best you can find.
Have a look at a place that sells them and ask for a demo.
