i have been getting e mails from an unknown source, at the top of the heading it says something about a competition, and looks legit enough, but there is nothing in the actual e mail but a link to a company advertising viagra. I am always reluctant to open these mails because i am sure that one crashed my old computer once, i have good security, and regular checks give a detailed report of any problems. I keep deleting them, but the same one keeps reappearing.

em10 - we all get those - don't open them but mark them as spam -that way next time you receive one from that source it will go straight into your spam folder. You can also alter your filter to medium or high which sends suspected spam mail directly to your spam folder. I'll let the computer experts explain how to do it as I'm not very good at that.

cheers i'll do that.
I'm no expert but my advice is if you don't know who sent it then dump without opening. I use Outlook Express and within tools there is 'Messge rules' and then a blocked senders list which can be added to. I should imagine that others are similar.
