It seems to me that someone has hacked my window live account. I had to reset password recently and did not think about it then. Now I started receiving unusual messages. When I decided to reset my password again under option, more option, account overview etc, I noticed another email address (which is not mine) there under "password reset information". Now whatever I am doing it is telling me that information would be sent to that email address and from there I will have to confirm it. I can't even remove that email address.

If I log out and reset my password would that be enough? more importantly how can I get rid of that other email address which is not mine?

There should be an option to remove that email address - look for the word Remove to the right of the address and click on that

I did, but that takes me to next window where that same email address is shown and the message reads that "To confirm, send a message to the address(es) listed below and then follow instructions in the message".

But one thing I noticed that since I did submit once, next to Remove it says LOST against that email address.
That message has two links, one to confirm deletion of the email address and one to cancel the deletion. I don't think that whoever owns the rogue email address is going to use the confirm one :-(

You could try contacting the Hotmail/Live mail team to see if you can persuade them to remove that email address, or ask in one for the forums at http://windowslivehel...duct.aspx?productid=1

If all else fails, you could set up a new account, transfer all your emails to the new account, let all your contacts know of the change of address, and then delete the compromised account. There is a guide to doing the transfer and notification at http://windowslivehel...2c1-8ff2-d4dea91a5452

Transferring to a new account won't help with everything - if you have used it to link to FB, Twitter or to sign up for other things on line you will almost certainly have to go and change the contact email address for each site yourself, but at least you'll be starting again with a secure account
