Absolutely agree that the ivory coast player was cheating. Having said that I am surprised no one has commented on the brazilian dying swan dramas nearly every time just an ordinary tackle went in. We are Brazil, therefore you shall not tackle.

The answer to your original question is they get too much money. If players didn't get paid a penny for playing for their countries - simply the honour - I'm sure most would still play.
