How is distance from tee to hole measured when the cup on the green is put in different positions each day?

it is measured to the front of the green, though it could be to the back. Fixed point, anyway.
it is measured from the front centre of the green then so many paces towards the back of the green and so many paces left or right
Most course cards state whether yardages are from the centre or front of the green.
Dudley - many thanks - I was wondering about the method of measuring because I know courses have a published yardage of total length, and with the changing of cup placement this must vary quite a lot. Your explanation is the best I think.
