As several clubs have already signed players, why are Sky Sports reporting that the transfer window opens today?

No player can be signed until 1 July

I know many (but not all) players' contracts expire on June 30th, but Sky have been reporting actual signings since May, e.g. Gareth Barry, Glen Johnson plus numerous ones in the Football League.

The transfer window in England opens on 1st June, but in most of Europe it open 1st July.

That is why the Ronaldo deal which has been done and dusted for weeks can only go ahead now.

on the 1st of july they officially join their teams prior to that they are still players of the selling club i think
