My mum and I were driving to Bala in Wales last week when we passed the 'Welcome to Wales' sign.
I'm sure the welsh part said 'Croeso i Gymru' but I always thought that it was Cymru spelt with a C. My mum says that I misread it but I'm certain I didn't. Can anyone pls help? TIA

You are right it would have been Croeso i Gymru. The welsh language has mutations for instance ;-
Cymru -Wales
Dw i'n dod o Gymru- I come from Wales
Dw i'n byw yn Nghymru- I live in Wales
Cymru would be the usual spelling, but sometimes in Welsh - a word beginning with a "C" changes to a "G" or "Nhg" depending on the word preceding it, called a mutation - and as a Welsh learner, it can make things a bit tricky! So, it this instance Croeso i Gymru is correct.

Thank you both for the replies. How interesting, I've only ever seen it spelt with a C before.

I'll make sure I pass it onto my mum, I knew I wasn't misreading the signs!
