BBC news. He has withdrawn from Wimbledon saying its too soon to be playing possible 5 sets after surgery. He hopes to be fit for US hard court season in August. Lets hope he is.

Thanks xword - I'll do that.
He should have made his intentions known far earlier.

He would have known whether or not he was up to the rigours of Wimbledon long before today. He has been most unfair to the organisers and the fans.
He made his intentions known weeks ago - he intended to play at Wimbledon based on how he felt his recuperation had progressed while playing 'lesser' tournaments.

However, since Grand Slam tournaments such as Wimbledon discriminate against men by forcing them to play 5 set matches, after playing Queen's (3 set) and Eastbourne (3 set) Murray has decided not to partake in the rigour of a Grand Slam.
Didn't he know he would be required to play five set matches at Wimbledon before yesterday?
Its no secret I'm not in his fan club... but a shame for him and his fans having to pull out.

Indeed he did, but the "far earlier" and "long before today" of your first reply amounts to four days at the earliest before he did announce his inability to endure the rigours of the discriminatory Wimbledon Tournament..
