HI there
I didnt sleep much last night despite taking 7 1/2 mg of diazepam and for 2 days I have had racing thoughts going through my mind like 100 miles an hour when I close my eyes. I am due to go on a train tonight to Manchester for my nephews confirmation on Sunday I have not been on a train for 9 years but I am determined to go but I am exhausted. My parents are due to take me through to Edinburgh from Perth I have got a colouring book and pens, Im travelling first class Ive made a list of things Im looking forward to seeing and doing Ive got my tablet with me but now I am freaking out about these racing thoughts what is the worst that can happen with them are they dangerous dont recall having anything like this ever before. Will they go away when I get on the train is this all just a build up of anxiety pre going? I really want to go I dont want to let this beat me.

are you anxious about it? The event or the travel?

the travel

what is the worst thing that can happen
What are you actually scared of?
the absolute worst thing would be nuclear war breaking out outside the train but I can confidently predict that this will not happen.

The worst that can actually happen is you'll arrive late, because delays aren't uncommon. Never plan your train travel to the minute; always allow extra time for an appointment.

Otherwise, relax and enjoy someone else doing the driving. Let the train take the strain.
Telling you the worst thing could happen is not going to help you because it is also the least likely.

The most likely thing is that the Steward will tell you off for going outside the lines when you are colouring in.

You need to distract yourself and occupy your mind/time with other things
You'll be alright, Gordie....can't say the same for your fellow passengers, mind....

I think having a panic attack on the train or it getting stuck somewhere and then having a panic attack and noone able to reach me and dying is that irrational ?? I have a really nice hotel booked lots of lovely things to look forward to I really want to beat this do you think I can do it. Are racing thoughts part of anxiety ?
yes, part of anxiety.

And try not to think of Nicola Sturgeon.
To someone who doesn't suffer from anxiety it would look completely irrational.

Do you think I can do this?
yes.
Yes gordie, you CAN do it. I've lost loadsa money by cancelling coach trips at last minute to Wales to see my son, but am determined to go this summer.
I might even go by train.
