of going out at Wimbledon. Currently 4-1 down in the final set to Angelique Kerber.
I for one hope Kerber wins, at least then we won't have to suffer the 'gruntfest' from now until Saturday.

There's not much to choose between them........in the grunting!
Question Author
Kerber barely murmered in the first set, I wonder if she's doing it now just to spite Sharapova.
It's no contest, Sharapova is awful noise-wise, puts me off watching.
It's a shame that the top half of the draw is loaded -- Sharapova, Bouchard, Halep and Lisicki fighting it out for the semi-finals, let alone the finals spot. As long as it was on mute, I'd love to see any of them win the thing -- especially Lisicki, but I doubt she'll make it to the final this time out.
Question Author
Sharapova now serving to stay in it, she can't pull this off, surely?
Mute firmly on. Come on Kerber.
The good news is that some of the up-and-coming stars of the game (Halep, Stevens, Bouchard, Robson) don't grunt. Women's tennis might be quiet again in a couple of years!

Two match points Kerber...
WOW what a match.

Congratulations to Kerber, thoroughly deserved.

You can all now re-set your volumes to normal for the rest of the Championships.
Well done Kerber. Well deserved.
Silence is golden!
Good news for our ears, I guess. Bouchard v. Kerber and Halep v. Lisciki should be very interesting matches.
Nadal next !
Watching Safarova v Makarova - there is barely any grunting at all!
I stopped watching tennis some years back because of the nonsensical grunting! They spoil it now so can't watch, how times change and not always for the best I feel.
Nose-wise, the worse you can get is surely Azarenka v. Schiavone...

"Wa-HEE!" "AAAA-aaaa-aa-a-a-a-a-a!" "Wa-HEEEE!" "AAAA-aaaa-aa-a-a-a-a-a!"
30-30?
Good. It's not even grunting. A grunt is a fairly low and gutteral noise, like pigs make when they're sniffing out truffles.

I'd call the noise these tennis players make 'shrieking at the top of their lungs'.
