Australia to resume with England needing 2 wickets to bring their first innings to a close.
The tourists will be looking to keep the Aussies under 300, which would be psychologically unsettling on what is deemed by the pundits a 400+ track.

Personally, I'm looking foward to seeing how one Mitchell Johnson bowls but more importantly how he stands up to the rigours of the banter from the Barmy Army.

Here we go, Broady to bowl.....

Broad gets his 6th wicket as he has Harris caught by Prior.
Question Author
Mistake by Haddin as he takes 3 runs, leaving the last man to face 5 balls from Anderson. Can he wrap things up here?
Question Author
Lyon survives the over, but he 'wore' a short one too!
Question Author
And the first innings closes as Haddin, looking for a suicidal second is run out, 6 short of his century.

Now it'll be the turn of Carberry in his first Ashes and indeed his first Test to front up. What a test of his mettle.
Interesting start to the day. Apparently a good batting pitch so sub-300 should be good for England. Time for our batsmen to stand up and be counted.
Question Author
Carberry off the mark with his first ball faced, that's a good nerve settler.
Question Author
England but more importantly Carberry survive the first over, 6 off it.
Now it'll be Johnson, this won't be dull that's for sure!
Question Author
Johnson has let one or two sray down leg, wonder how long before we are hearing this chant again?

Cook goes, caught behind. Happened a lot recently i.e. Cook out early but England go on to amass a good score, was a feature of last summer's Ashes so our batsmen will be used to this.
Aus will have their tails up though, got to get through to lunch now without further loss.
so Cook getting out for less than, say, the clown Watson is in fact a good omen? I'll cling to that.
Question Author
Yep, look at his record last summer, he was poor by his standards. But the team kept winning and he was the captain so the selectors stuck with him, even though there were a few mumbled questions about him.
Question Author
Carberry batting like it's a Sunday afternoon on the village green, not short on confidence and these runs will do him the world of good as he moves to 25.
Question Author
The Aussies squeeze an over in before lunch and they've had a plan for Trott which has worked as he nicks one down the leg side.
Advantage Oz at lunch.
Question Author
KP dropped on 8! You generally only get one chance with Kev before he inevitably changes the the game in one session.
Carberry approaching 50, what a feat it would be in his first Ashes Test Match.
Jeezus H Christ - 89/7 - 'kinell. We'll be following on at this rate.................
pathetic England 91-8 !!!
Morning Bernie - at least as I type Broad is still there - might get extras for too many bouncers!!
morning welshy didn't expect this score when i got up!!
tea 94-8 need 2 more to stop following on!
Wonder if Sir Geoffrey of Boycott has got his kit with him?
