That was the first school that i attended........milk was given, in the winter it was warmed over a fire, it never closed during snow problems, smacking was allowed, dinner money was taken, no Muslims or immigrants and we all had an equal chance of getting the 11+ going onto grammar school and university.

In class 5, the teacher Miss.A...went out with Americans and was labelled a "slapper" by some........;-)

Have things changed?.......yes.......for the better?

M-T....airmen mainly...Polebrook nr Peterborough was an American Airbase as was another just outside Huntingdon (forgotten it's name)

anne....in the summer......sandals (that didn't fit) and in the winter......laced up boots which weighed a ton....LOL
I used to be milk top monitor and we saved all our bottle-tops for guide dogs for the blind.
Those football boots with nailed on studs were good though sqad !.
sqad, did your boots make sparks on the cobbles ? :)
Does anyone remember when all the boys had "segs" on their shoes to make them last longer?

What Poles or Italians in New England?.......not bloody likely....too downmarket for them in that area....even the coppers patrolled in pairs.
but i thought there was no crime back then sqad, why on earth would coppers need to patrol in pairs?
