The coffee sizes in Starbucks are -

"Tall" (meaning bigger than normal) ... which is Small

"Grande" (meaning BIG) ... which is Medium

"Venti" (something to do with the wind?) ... which is Large.

If I'm in a foreign Bar, and I ask for a vino, and say "Grande!" ... (and do that gesture we all do)

... I do NOT expect a medium sized wine !

JJ....why worry about nomenclature........Starbuck's coffee is cr@p.
I've never been able to finish a venti black coffee served in a mug in there but I can drink it if it's in a take away cup. Weird.

Frappys should only come in venti size. And they should bring the black cherry mocha one they had last year back too.
