Assuming that you hold UK passports, you're not eligible for the 'green card lottery' (which is only available to nationals of countries which are under-represented within the USA).

So that basically means that you've absolutely no chance of being allowed to emigrate to the USA unless:
(i) you've got close family members there; or
(ii) you've got specialist skills or talents which can't be matched by those of a US citizen (e.g. if you're a world-famous English character actor); or
(iii) you've got relevant professional qualifications to advanced degree (masters or doctorate) level.

sorry lostboy, but it seems doing "anything" for your lifelong dream dosent even include contacting the american embassy or even their website to find out what chris has found in a few minutes, so somehow i really doubt your commitment.
As chris has said unless you fulfil the criteria you will not be able to move to the usa. It might have been better to find this out before dreaming your lifelong dream, so you could concentrate your efforts on a different dream

Bit harsh bedknob!!
I had looked this up several times in the past,i just wondered if there were any other ways of getting round this that's all.
If you didn't have anything productive to say why bother??
i suppose if im honest, simply because your question annoyed me for the "lifelong dream" reasons as stated above.
Sorry :) i must have got out of bed the wrong side yesterday!
As you now seem to need a green card to even join the American Army

I would suggest that you need to get yourself back to university and study hard! You need to get a really good degree (or even two) and then work for at least 5 years in a related field before applying for jobs in the US. Mr Spudqueen has a Bsc and a Phd in Physics and would be able to apply for a job in the US if he so desired. A couple of people he has worked with in the past are now working in the States because it was an American company they worked for here and they saw opportunities come up. They also had degrees though.
