does any one know first of all what is the correct term for this job, how to find out how much these people get paid, and how to get into this line of work?

Hey cheeky chops! well masts or whatever! Do you know what i mean or are you actually just being a cheeky chops?
like they have lights on tall poles to stop low flying aircraft crashing into them?

Those tall poles with lights on are usually sited within the grounds of an airport and in that case, i would imagine that the maintenance staff that work at the airport would be resonsible for them.

Or see this link for a Company that specialise in airport lighting.
