Reina had already said he wanted to go to Barcelona so Liverpool signed another goalie.

It was only when Liverpool found his transfer did to Barcelona did not happen that they decided to loan him out.

It is not Liverpool's fault his transfer to Barcelona did not happen.

He is too well paid for Liverpool to leave him sitting on the bench.
