Yepp. a great goalkeeper.
He was before my time but was told great stories about him when I was a nipper. Isn't he the goalie who played with a broken neck?
For those about to ask "Who is Bert Trautmann?" he was Manchester City's goalkeeper and in the 1956 FA Cup final against Birmingham City he broke his neck fifteen minutes from the end but carried on to the final whistle.
That's a yes then (- I was born in 1956)
I wonder what he thought about today's players rolling around on the floor as if they've been shot

R.I.P. I first heard of him from Jason Manford ...and he mentions todays footballers...

He was a German paratrooper, captured during WW2.
Never heard of him

Sounds like a colourful character though
