I ask because there were 50 yellows and 4 red cards on saturday+sunday combined.

It may just be the end of season turmoil. There are still quite a few teams who have things to play for.
The 4 remaining Eurofootball places are within reach of 8 teams and relegation is between 6 teams so things can get a bit heated.
