Do you write all your guests names on bits of paper to work out a table plan ?

Do you like "boy-girl boy-girl" or do you prefer "ends" ?

It has been known..... but I always mix 'em up, otherwise the conversation is a game of two ends.
We just unwrap the fish suppers on our knees and flop down wherever there's space.
As long as you don't sit me next to ummmm, I don't care. lol x

It depends who your guests are and their relationship with each other ...
How many people?

Couples, singles or a mix of the two?

Do they know each other?

My answer would be no anyway.....the people I invite to dinner would know each other well enough for me not to worry about who sits where.
Oi...cheeky fecker Naz :-O
I always did boy girl, boy girl. You can't have "ends"! What's the point of having a dinner party if you have "ends".
Yeahhh ... She'll have yer eye out : )

x ummmm
(hope that's enough x's to keep out of trubble)

ummmm ...

I wish I could be so self confident.

I agonize for hours over my scraps of paper, and always end up phoning a friend to discuss it.

Let's say ... 12 people ... mostly couples.
I just knew someone would mention Come Dine With Me!
I just let people sit where they want as long as I am near the kitchen. Mind you if we are playing poker after dinner there are certain people I don't want to sit next to.
Little caracature place-settings ... that would be fun : )
"Oi...cheeky fecker Naz :-O"

heheh ... <xxx>
Dinner parties? Never had any - I've only got a wee table :)

Chrissa ...

The "ends" might work in the sense of ...

"Okay, so how about if you chaps all sit at that end (and talk about beer and football, zzzzzzzzzz), and we'll sit at this end."
Not really Jayne. I want my guests to be at home with us and comfortable, so if they want to sit with partners, that's fine by me. I do like a beautiful classically laid table though. I'm a stickler for that.

(sorry JJ) naz, you haven't answered my Q yet - what IS that? ;-)
Nooo, I hate football (and know nothing about it) ... I'd rather talk about makeup & underwear.
