I would like to acknowledge that there are some accounts that have been created by our moderators, to help them control the community, without breaking their normal identity.

Having multiple AnswerBank accounts is against site rules. However, these accounts have been approved by the Editors.

These moderators will be added to this thread, and you should give them as much respect as you would give to an Editor.

If you are a moderator, and would like to have one of these accounts, please send us an email.

Zacsmaster - It looks like I started all of this last night. In the past I removed posts and had to watch as a row breaks out about who was responsible and why. I can now use my usual name to remove the posts and explain why in my secretmod name. I will also be able to warn posters to kerb their tempers and it might result in less suspensions happening.

So,when they’re in ‘Mod mode’ they have to use the special user name, which you’re going to tell us?
All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.

The 'special user' will only be used if a moderator feels like they need to comment on a thread. The 'special user' does not have any moderator power. Moderators will have to use their existing AnswerBank accounts to moderate.

Moderators can not share a 'special user'. They will have one each.

Publicly known moderators will not be given a 'special user'.
lol douglas9401 depends if you got two legs or four
Oh right. That’s all clear then!
What The Funicular?
I thought that we weren't allowed to keep primates now...
Just arch bishops I believe, DTC.
I am happy that there's no steaming brown emojis available, for some.
zacs, it seems perfectly clear to me
maybe no poo but i know an aeroplane works ✈️
pmsl - seriously!
Question Author
Yes, seriously. Ideally, all of our moderators would be known to the community. However, respecting the longevity of their serivce, we will not force current moderators to be known publicly.

Any moderators that we take on in the future will be added to this thread.
As a long term member…..May I respectfully ask…..
What is this supposed to achieve?
SpareEd/ You said name of moderator appointed recently would be shown on your thread at that time - this didn't happen (at least not that I noticed)!
in the thread over the weekend, secretmod got a bit of earache about whether the current management agreed about them having 2 accounts, so i see this as merely an aknowledgement that that's ok with current eds
Excellent.
i can also see why a mod would sometimes want to speak as a mod, but not "come out" as one
//What is this supposed to achieve?//

What does it matter ZM?

If it makes people feel more comfortable then I really dont have a problem.

The ID of moderators really is pointless, the problem lies with inconsistent moderating as far as I can see. Not that I have suffered greatly but I have seen others treated bizarrely (Even if I disagreed with their post)
Perfectly clear. Thank you
The 'special user' bit has confused me. :-(
