Can anyone help me? I have found an RBS share certifcate in my late husbands paperwork, I have contacted RBS , to find out if the certificate is still on file as owned by him, and they suggested I contact an independant stockbroker. Is there anywhere on line wher I can check?

The stockbroker advice was poor - it's the Registrar you need to contact

Computershare Investor Services PLC

are the Registrar for RBS and should be able to answer your question

It's almost certainly still in your husband's name - anything different and it would have to have been surrendered

Thanks a lot for that , I rang them up and after a few diversions, including one to Dublin, it was confirmed that it was changed to Invesco and all sorted. Once again, thanks a lot.
Just to slightly correct dzug, people frequently lose share certificates, part of the reasn why they are encouraged these days not to even get one in the first place. It's perfectly feasible to obtain a duplicate certificate with an indemnity claim and sell shares only for the original certificate to turn up years later. I've seen it happen often.
