I'm not superstitious in the slightest...
I'm not particularly superstitious Bobbi, but I do believe in Fate as in 'If it's meant to be it will happen' kind of thing. Fate has played a big part in my life especially of late and I'm overjoyed at the consequences at present.

fate is a thing I believe in but superstition, I do not yet some people are 'big' on it , my mother used to clear the table when it thundered and open all of the doors....to let it pass throgh..f-fs..lol
she wouldn't pass you on the stairs either????
New shoes on the table....what's that all about.
Question Author
don't leave through the door you came in at...it's a bugger if you live in a upstairs flat...innit..lol
Superstitions actually irritate me, not based on anything of any sense.

I was working in a narrow street once, the ladder had go from one side of the street to the other, even when there was no one up the ladder and i was supervising people to walk safely under the ladder, many people refused to walk under it and tried insisting that I move the ladder, I refused on the basis that it was perfectly safe to walk under and I refuse to pander to any ridiculous superstition.

I agree RATTER but I wonder where they originated and why?
I'm not really superstitious. Maybe that's why I have so many accidents.....?
I'm not superstitious at all - touch wood!

My mum is so superstitious, I think she makes half of them up!

Salt over your shoulder, don't pass on the stairs, don't open an umbrella in the house, shoes upon the table, peacock feathers, magpies, walking under ladders, breaking mirrors, itchy right hand - money coming your way, itchy left hand - you'll be giving money away... and the best one of all.... (This has got to be one of her own) Itchy bum - surprise to come!!

superstitious fiddle faddle!
Question Author
especially on the 13th Sall...neither am I ..lol
You and me both Salla...I'd be doing so well for so long.
no I'm not that superstitious after I watched my mate wait for all traffic to go past so he could walk around a ladder in the street. He died that night. I guess I'm with redman and believe alot in fate. My mate is the worst for superstition, she has to always leave mine the same entrance she came in, not step on 3 drain covers etc. I do however clap after someone says bless you, as I dont want any fairies to die lol
If I see one solitary magpie (one for sorrow) - I think - pffhh, what a load of tosh. But if I then see a second one soon afterwards, I do emit a little smile :-)
It's when you see 3 or 4 that worry me Salla...
Question Author
theres two in there I have never heard of 4get, the 3 drains and clapping after a Bless you..lol
I say "More Tea Vicar?" if an old person farts - but that's manners, not superstition....
I am a Pagan...but not superstitious....I am not saying however that all the things I believe in make sense in a modern scientific world....
Question Author
More tea Vicar?
splutter...bloody brilliant, ha-ha
-- answer removed --
My second mother-in-law used to say it. Or at least, her children used to say it to her cos she farted the entire time. She was a Methodist. As if that makes a difference?
