Taking a lead from another question here where flobadob asked atheists that how did they become atheists, I want to ask a bit different question.

I read somewhere,

"It is better to believe in God, hell, life after death and then find out that these things did not exist than not believing in these and then all of a sudden finding that it was true"

Although I have no doubt in my mind and my belief is not due to that reason, but to put this question forward let's take it HYPOTHETICALLY. I am having a good life (in this world) and can't think of a thing that my belief in God and so on has stopped me from doing where I would really regret later on or would have hoped of having done that. Still when it comes to hereafter I have a hope that I will have something better there too. However suppose if that does not happen, I would still have no regrets as worse come worse I would be as anyone else who did not believe, which is nothing after this world.

However what hope do you have if all what you ever denied turns out to be true?

I very much doubt that there is a god and it seems to me even less likely that there are more than one because I cannot imagine he/she/it would hide the evidence so comprehensively to let people debate, argue, fight (far too often violently) ad infinitum as to what he/she/it wants. I am an gnostic who believes that should there be a god then he/she/it would have at least some respect for me having given the matter serious thought and ultimately refused to bet on any particular horse in the race to be the club that secured salvation while all others are the losers (how grubby a concept !). In fact, I rather hope there is a god because then the truth may be revealed sometime, at which moment I hope it would be revealed to all, past and present at the same instant. That is the microsecond at which I would love to see the looks on all the religious pundits' faces when, as I believe, it will dawn on them that they were way off the mark, not remotely close. Everyone is entitled to their belief/guess, but has no right to foist it on others to attract "votes" on what is "correct". By all means foster healthy debate, discussion, etc. but don't be upset if people disagree with you - accept that they have the same right to their opinions, it's called being open minded and tolerant.
....obvious typing error: gnostic should be agnostic

Beso – Wives of mainly footballers, boxers, other rich people and sometimes of few normal middle class people like you and me believe in what you said. They apply for a divorce soon they realise that they would be financially better of after divorce. I hope that does not happen to you.
Keyplus, you're talking nonsense.
I would be interested in hearing the explanation. Just how does being divorced with a share of what you had as a couple become a financial advantage?

In fact there are many couples who don't get divorced because they can't handle the financial setback. Ironically despite the stress on relationships during financial downturns, the divorce rate actualy falls..

The high profile splits are rarely about money but just the same things that break up any other couple. Boredom and dishonesty. It is just that the famous people have to do it in public.

You don’t need much explanation. Whatever is in husbands name, wife gets 50% of that once divorce goes through. Perhaps that is another reason why majority of people do not bother about getting married in the first place. Whereas living together as partners and walking into opposite directions once had enough is far easier.
keyplus.

Your questions assumes that the existing of God is true !

The existence of God has 0% evidence, thus this question is the same as asking someone 'what hope do you have if you denied the existence of faries and it turned out to be true'

Technically if we answered this question then you would have to answer another milllion for disbeleive in any supertnatural ruling or god.

I can see from the asnwers here that even athesists here give religion too much respect. Lets not forget ladies and gents, there is 0 evidence for religion or a supernatural being, there is no factual, logical or rational information to support. Hence any question relating to this just cannot be given any repsect, the same as asking someone about flying unicorns. (which by the way has the same amount of evidence.........................0 %)

Also on the basis that no one can prove or disprove and we have 50/50 i would be justified to ask you ' if all you beleived in turned out to be untrue, how gutted would you be ?
Keyplus, //Whereas living together as partners and walking into opposite directions once had enough is far easier. //

If that's what people prefer to do, what's wrong with it?
guyrkp, of course you're right, but we don't argue these issues out of respect for religion, or any of the questions it raises. Far from it.

Guyrkp – Seems to me that you have just joined in or have been away for long time. I am sure that you are not aware of the fact that AB is paradise of atheists and all the things you have said about fairies, unicorns etc are always in the air. In fact on AB you may see few of your prophets. Surely we do not have proof of the existence of God. Neither do we have proof of headache. Can you show me pain? Lets have a deal, you show me pain and I would show you God.

Wiz – You have a point, even woman can be rich and financially independent. Problem is then man would be looking for the divorce as he might be eyeing all those bank balances.
Speak for yourself keyplus - not ALL men are so ruthless as to divorce a woman for her bank balance.
Keyplus, If we could show you pain, you couldn't show us God. What nonsense!
found this quote :

"You're arguing for argument's sake again and it's boring"

seems quite apt
Yes, it does Ankou, because you're still at it. How about re-visiting Sherminator's thread to answer my question? Just who among those here are you accusing of potentially supporting church bombings? That's a pretty serious statement you made there.

Tamborine – Muslims countries have least rate of divorce. Now lets see other side of your coin.

Naomi – You are asking others to answer your questions but you yourself never answer any questions. I have six questions in two different threads waiting for your sensible answers. However it might be a tough ask, asking you for sensible answers.
Keyplus, It's obvious that I have answered your questions since you clearly don't consider my answers to be 'sensible'. Let's see what you said in one of your posts in response to my answers a few days ago:

//Now just give me sensible answer to my questions above or just shut up.//

//Give me sensible answers or go and hide somewhere.//

As for my question to Ankou, although he's contributed to AB since making a serious accusation, he's been strangely absent here, and several people are, quite rightly, asking for his explanation. Using my request as an aid to vent your sarcasm further demonstrates not only your inability to conduct a civilised debate, but in your eagerness to disparage me personally, your blindness in failing to consider and to comprehend the gravity of his allegation.

There is another saying that when a pigeon see a cat then he/she shuts his/her eyes and believes that if he/she can’t see the cat then obviously cat can’t see him/her.

Most of the atheists claim to have thought about everything and still when someone asks them to look at something even HYPOTHETICALLY still they refuse to look at it and instead believe in what they believe is right. So not much difference there then is it?

In over two weeks only one person stood to his ground and accepted that if hereafter exists and he is wronged there then he would face it. Others all have talked about all the usual bits but not about the subject of the question. Perhaps it terrifies them so much that they decided to shut the eyes too. So perhaps It’s time for me to shut something. This question.
Yes, I did write that IF what you wrote was true then I would have to accept it. That's very different from thinking that there's any chance of it being true.

Exactly equally, if it turned out that there was a psychotic elephant with a plasma rifle (40 watt range) waiting for me in the bathroom when I retire in a few minutes, I would accept fate he deemed acceptable too.
