Do you believe heaven exists?
Question Author
as an athiest im sort of open to the idea
Sherman, I'm not with you. If you're an atheist, how can you be open to the idea of heaven? Agnostics are open to ideas - atheists are non-believers - full stop.
Probably not, you may get dispensation depending on why you did it if you just killed an atheist for being an atheist then I kinda think God frowns upon that kind of thing.
There was a school of thought I heard mentioned that said atheists can get to heaven because they've thought about God.
I did'nt quite follow it as I was very drunk at the time but I doubt that would have made much difference as it seemed like quite a convoluted explaination.
I guess it depends on your particular branch of your religion.

I can't imagine the Quakers approving!
This is true.. An Athiest has no brain space for God at all.

As previoulsy stated.. you either believe or you dont Athiests have some belief surely that God is there, they just dont like him ;-)
Can we assume then that you were still holding the grenade Sherman?
Now that's an idea lol :-)

sigh..... an athiest is open to the idea that his views can be changed otherewise he is just as dogmatic about his beliefs as a religeous person. Which scientifically is wrong.

I do get tired of explaining this
As soon as someone shows me a piece of evidence to suggest there is a god then i will believe in it.

so im an athiest who can be proved wrong!
I don't see why not,

Has not God has killed many innocents in the past?.
It is not possible to prove the existence of God, surely that stands to reason.

However, it may be a step on the way when given a choice between Luke's gospel and Kilvert's diary and the Time-Life book of galaxies, you choose the Luke.

Well gormless if jesus comes back and proves miracles then that will prove there is a god, not a very nice god but a god none the less

Jesus coming back is not the point. If he was here in the first place, isn't that challenging enough?
Question Author
Jesus is the point you said its not possible to prove there is a god and I believe that statement to be completely wrong

If Jesus comes back and starts performing miracles then that will prove god exists!
It all depends upon few things as others suggested too. First of all to go to the heaven you need to believe it exists. Then you need to believe that if it does exist then someone must have created it. Who is that creator? Surely it has to be only one creator. That is a very fundamental question. Unification of the creator is the most important thing.

Then we come towards your act. No one has a right to kill anyone apart from being for legal reasons (Justice System) or defending yourself when you do not have any other choice. All these things are upon God. If he want to forgive, he would as only he knows how you felt in your heart before and after the act.

Now the existence of God. People always talk about logic, irrational and rational reasons etc, but still if they land on a deserted island and see human foot print on the sand then it would be very logical to believe that there has to be a human around as water waves couldnt have imprinted a human foot print just by accident. And when it comes to this whole Universe which is more complex than a human foot print then the same people believe that it appeared without a creator. How illogically logical can you get.
As I am led to (not quite) believe, God forgives. Which means that he may have forgiven the athiest, terrorists, paedophiles and wife-beater. It also means he may forgive you.

So you may all land up in heaven together!! Lovely!
Become a roman catholic, get your sins absolved on death bed and the jobs a goodun.
Sherman, oh ok. I can't recall reading your explanation before, but I see what you mean now.
I would think, for this post, we should assumeGod exists God exists, for Christians, Jesus is God, so, who decides who goes to heaven with forgiveness for sins committed?.

Has God specified what will be forgiven, and what will not be? , God has killed so many innocents, according to the Holy Writings, i'm not to sure i'd want him/her to sit in judgement over me, and i'd hate to ponder on what Heaven is like, with a mass murderer in charge.
Aplogies for the double 'God Exists', I was distracted at the time.
