Yes, such an army would primarily wage war against belief and believers. Their first victims would be the Padres
Yes and No

The CofE seriously needs to be disentangled from the state but that's not the same issue.

Military Padres are Christian but there are 4 multi faith chaplains

http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/christ ianity/priests/armychaplains_3.shtml

They are civillian chaplains to the army. Christian Padres are officers which gives them a conflict of interest.

They should be reformed in a similar vein.

They're not irrelevant as long as there are people in the forces that want them there.

No. Personally, I think it's quite sad that people feel the need to believe in the biblical God, but since they do, as Jake says, military padres aren't irrelevant. In times of crisis they fulfil an important role in helping to bring courage and hope - and if we're talking about military campaigns, both are vital.

God was more prevalent in the U.K. during the second world war, particularly during the blitz, so I gather from film archives of Londoners.
Belief in God may have been more prevalent, Theland, but since he hasn't appeared, or done anything practical to help anyone for hundreds of years, he, himself, wasn't more prevalent.
Man on desert island prays to God offering him all his future earnings if God will just rescue him. A rowing boat drifts ashore. Man says 'Don't bother, God, I've just struck it lucky.'

Moral of the story, naomi: how do you know if it was God or luck that sent the boat?
How do you, jno?
Naomi, it is a very biased view based on your own lack of belief in the biblical God that he hasn't appeared, or done anything practical to help anyone for hundreds of years. If you dont believe he exists, then ipso facto, you wont recognise anything he has or has not done for anyone. You will put it down to luck, chance or something else.

Just because he hasnt done it for you, why assume everyone else has been left wanting. Others will thank God for such fortune, a choice they rightly have.
I think Naomi is a little bit of a Christianophobe, she's obssessed with it the other day on a thread I made a clear reference to Hinduism only for Naomi to remind us again about the "biblical God" as that was what "they" were referring to.
Presumably she meant "they" was them and not me.
If you say so, Octavius.

Everton, I haven't a clue what you're talking about. A link would be good.
I do and I did, black and white and read all over.

Everton, somtimes we might assume that naomi just means 'the others'.
Jolly good.
I should say.
Lonnie's thread "Is everything predetermined?" pages 21 to 40, I am a complete technophobe much more than a left click and I'm lost, so you'l have to look it up yourself unless someone else is kind enough to insert the link.
P.S.
For the record with regard to that thread you are wrong, so consider yourself "corrected".
Here is Naomis God. Because the way she wants God to be then this is the one who fits in.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/myhero/

Otherwise according to her he has disappeared over 2000 years and if believe in Islam then over 1400 years(mind you even then no one saw him or someone should ask Moses pbuh what happened when he wished to see him). However if we take average generation age about 60 years then it comes up that 23 generations have gone without first hand knowledge about God. Naomi is worried that 23 generation have gone past but she believes in scientists so perhaps she should try finding out that how many generation went before these 23. And let me know about the fraction.

All this universe and so on and would it just finish in few generations, its like whole sahara desert when you need a grain of sand.

Any Naomi is not only Christianophobe. She has lot more problems but look at the grace of God that he has given people freedom even to deny him or using a foul language as well about him. But only for a limited time.
K90 the link was funnier than the post which was a little harsh I feel, sarcasm does'nt become you.
Could you oblige with the Lonnie thread to save everyone else the bother?
Padres/priests in Brit forces are appointed to serve Her Majesty forces. Lets not forget who the allegiances are to.

The church binds the forces in foreign fields. No serviceman is compelled to practise the faith but it's there for the use of and is of comfort for those requiring marriage/baptisms/last rites etc.

Other faith leaders usage are called upon by special request but not integral to the forces.
Ah Everton, have just read that thread, I see what you mean about the insipid and incongruous nuances of a shoulder with a big chip. Such sentiments define a person as being a rather contrite and pithy goon.

But thats just my opinion.

Back to the question though: I agree with what terambulan said.
i think naomi once got dumped by a black christian giving her having massive issues with both race and religion.

its one thing to not believe in god like i dont. and its one thing to not like bishops in the house of lords, christian influence in politics etc. but for someone to feel the need to write the same few comments in almost every question on answerbank even those that are not to do with the subject; "the biblic god is a twisted monstor", "i dont believe in your evil god", "chritians are illogical and sad", usually followed by some wild stereotype and personal abuse, it just smacks of deeper underlying lying issues.
Finished school already, ghetto poet ?
Haven't you got some homework you should be getting on with ?
