I have just finished but could do with some help validating one of my answers. One could be a sort of monetarist out of MIT (7) S-N-T-R. I have SENATOR, which is an anagram of monetarist without MIT. However, I am still not sure why it is SENATOR. What am I missing? I know that senate (according to Chambers) is a governing body of certain British Universities, and MIT is a university (but not British), but this seems too tenuous a link.

I must admit I found Genius to be a bit tough this month. I still can't really see the link between the composite clues that are supposed to be of a kind. They seem to be a mixture of singers, an artist, a painter, an actor and..erm...a ship (the last of which seems to throw any thought of the link being 'creative/entertainer' types.

I seem to remember the linked clues all had a verb in the surname like Fields and Thomas GAINSborough.
and mary ROSE... etc.
