What's 'Devotions'?
Question Author
Thanks Jake, i will go on there in a bit - LLamatron devotions is a religious thing, where we talk about God and the Bible etc.
The link below is how an eight year old sees God : Just an idea, Mooria - You could read it and let the children ask questions.

Atheists are people who don't believe in God. I don't think there are any in Chula Vista, California. At least there aren't any who come to our church.

Do you think that's meant to be a joke Cetti? because it's a bit subtle for an 8 year old or does the author really expect to find athiests in church?

I see nothing has changed whilst I have been away. Still the same old sneering and sniping. Why not just answer the question eh?

Some info here: http://re-xs.ucsm.ac.uk/primary/

I shall depart on another pilgrimage. Adios.
Oct - you answers normally make you appear to be a reasonable bloke , it confuses me that you'd go along with indoctrination of children
Question Author
Paulos, I am not indoctering children, I help out at a Christian youth group, so the children are mainly from a christian homes, and want to learn more about God and the Bible. - i don't see that there is anything wrong with it. I had a similar devotional time when i was 8 as did my brother, i went down the 'religious' route and now am very activaly apart of my church, whereas my brother didn't. Yet we both had the same teachings as an 8 year old. I think that it is quite naive to think that by holding a ten minute devotional slot will indoctrinate these boys.
All i wanted was an orginal idea so that i could do something a little different them this week.

Oh, and thanks Oct for your link, i am sure it will help
Octavius is right - the question is there to be answered, so I'll post the question that sprang to my mind separately.
Maybe the kids are getting a balanced view, devotions one day, and the merits of apartheid the next, atheism the next, how the benefits system works the next, and then woodwork for beginners. Don't knock devotions, it could be part of a curriculum.
