York Minster has its own police force (Minster Police Force). The Minster Police were formally founded in 1829, but probably existed even before that - ther have been constables since 1285. This is the only private police force outside the Vatican - the Gendarmerie of the State of Vatican City (separate from the Swiss Guard).
