Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out. And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.' This He said, signifying by what death He would die.
So according to the Bible Satan is in control of the earth at the moment.

Actually God was not firmly in control. From the moment Adam and Eve rebelled and chose to go their own way, Satan has taken over.
He was not mentioned by name until the book of Job. But he had been around from the beginning.If you remember, in the Book of Genesis, after creating man, God rested. He is still resting.

I can only conclude that bizarre idea is the result of wishful thinking - I've never heard it before but clearly none of its God’s fault. However, assuming just for argument's sake that you’re right, who did all the things normally attributed to God? Making the covenant with Abraham, promising the land of Israel to his chosen people (did he not choose them?), speaking to Moses and giving him the Ten Commandments, sending the plagues upon Egypt …. you know the kind of thing. I won't add having himself born on earth in human form so that he could sacrifice himself to himself in order to save us from his wrath ... you might not believe that one.
