If science puts up barriers and refuses to follow truth wherever it leads, then it is left floundering for answers to the big questions, on the creation of the universe, the creation of life from inert chemicals, and the impossibility of Darwin's theory of a sing!e cell ancestor.
Do you consider yourself open minded about such matters and not constricted by a naturalistic worldview?

Theland - // Andy, for somebody who has no interest and nothing to say, you say an awful lot. // I never said I had no interest, I said I didn't care in looking for 'answers' which is not the same thing. Nothing to say? Are you serious???????

//Who am I to argue with such eminent atheist scientists?//

But you are arguing with them, Theland - hence your question.

You repeat over and over ‘by reason’ - but unless you alone are positively aware that nothing beyond this universe exists, your conclusion, for which there is not one jot of evidence to support it, is entirely unreasonable.
I neither agree nor disagree with anything I do not understand. There is a third alternative. Withhold judgement until such time as the required knowledge to make a rational determination becomes possible. An assumption of knowledge, my own or anyone else's, has never got me there.
Question Author
Mibs that comment is applaudable but in my opinion misleading.
I simply share the curiosity of the scientists across a wide spectrum of worldviews.
The 13.8 bn years that the universe has existed is simply not enough time for our planet to develop as it has according to leading scientists.
Should I believe them, or you.
Many thanks for engaging with me in a constructive and friendly manner.
Question Author
Naomi,by removing some possibilities through science, on the cause of the universe, there remains others, including God, but your conditioning and worldview prevents you going any further.
Theland, from mibs: //Withhold judgement until such time as the required knowledge to make a rational determination becomes possible.//

Why is that misleading? If you don’t know it makes perfect sense to say you don’t know.

//by removing some possibilities through science, on the cause of the universe, there remains others, including God//

Why then have you removed all possibilities except God?

//your conditioning and worldview prevents you going any further.//

If you want a discussion have one. Personal comments are surplus to requirements.
Question Author
Personal comments?
Here we go again!
Nothing personal there Naomi.
If the created universe is a bubble, you expect to find the answers from within that created bubble.
Do you simply continue to offer your opinions on the basis of feelings, or can you back them up with any science?
So far you have not.
I honestly don't know why you, (and several others) even bother. Theland (and others) will never agree with anything that contradicts their beliefs, and Naomi, Andy, Nailits et al will never be persuaded of the existance of God, as it is impossible to prove.

All these posts are in exercise in futility.
//All these posts are in exercise in futility.//

What makes them futile is largely the failure of some to apply the same standard of proof they demand of others to their own beliefs. Trumpeting sound bites (from anyone) that you believe supports your position while dismissing anyone that is not in agreement does not constitute proof or promote understanding.
Yes, Theland, personal comments. I have not been ‘conditioned’.

//Do you simply continue to offer your opinions on the basis of feelings, or can you back them up with any science? So far you have not. //

Well of course I haven’t because I’ve always said I don’t know. But then again perhaps I can back that up with science because science doesn’t know either.

You didn’t answer my question. Why have you removed all possibilities except God?
I am completely baffled why some believe in the existence of this thing they call god.

Quotes from an ancient book of dubious origin and nut jobs on youtube are just plain silly.

Where was this god when all his ardent followers around the world prayed for the life of Ken Bigley ?

This god allegedly was quite happy for his alleged son to be nailed to a piece of wood.

The belief that this god created everything is just daft.
Question Author
Naomi, in answer to your question, all other possibilities are removed by a process of elimination based on the science.
There is an uncaused cause that created everything, that is the only possibility left, called God.
Question Author
Mibs, you have so far failed to answer anything or even point me in the direction of expert witness for your views.
You wax philosophical but without citing any philosophers, or scientific opinion.
Theland - Why do you persist, almost daily, in asking questions to which they are simply no answers, certainly none that are known to the people who come on here?

You don't know, I don;t know, no-one knows, and admittedly I don't care, but there are thousands of other questions about which I do care, that are equally devoid of answers.

The difference is, I am able simply to accept that my questions have no answers, and I go about my life accepting that.

You on the other hand, appear to believe that if you ask the same questions over and over again, an answer with which you are comfortable will magically appear.

There is no sign of that happening, why not smell the roses until that situation changes, because as you and I know, if it does, we won't have to look far to find out!
Question Author
Sparklykid - Have you studied the subject in any depth, or just offering an uninformed opinion?
All opinions are valid, but some carry more weight than others.
Theland - // There is an uncaused cause that created everything, that is the only possibility left, called God. //

That's it then, we can all pack up and go home.

Can't we ...
Theland - // All opinions are valid, but some carry more weight than others. //

But none of them provide answers, and repetition does not alter that simple fact.
Question Author
Andy - Fair enough.
Let me come back later with a response.
But for now, what kind of question do you consider valid on the R & S category?
It is quite a narrow field is it not, apart from rituals and dogma that is.
Theland - // But for now, what kind of question do you consider valid on the R & S category? //

Any one which comes within a galaxy-sized chance of a reasonable answer.

Your endless 'God versus Science in the matter of Creation' question which you have presented for months now, is clearly not one of them.
Question Author
My questioning leaves me in good company.
The whole history of science revolves around trying to better understand the universe.
NASA and CERN to name but two amply illustrate the human curiosity about our origins.
But for me to raise my questions means being countered by what appears to be uninformed opinions.
(You do enjoy responding though I think, otherwise you would not.)
Question Author
'' Clearly.'' Well I'm glad you enjoy clarity.
