Well I can hardly believe it but the precious babe is making her first holy communion this May. On the days I have her we are preparing a HC scrapbook- and in desperate to lose at least a stone before the day (I’m also hoping to have threading and my lips done but that’s another thread) Anyway in just wondering how much to tip the priest? I thought £20-30
Anyone else had any experience? As always - thanks in anticipation

Tipping The Priest sounds like the title of a Panorama investigation...

Never tipped at Holy Communion as was usually done as a class group.
I'm not into Roman Catholicism, but good manners would suggest something.
A tenner maybe?
Why would anyone ‘tip’ a priest for carrying out such a blessing ?
If she is going with her class, individual tips are not expected.
I'm hoping Ric.ror means he wants to make a donation to the church.
Yes, £20 -30 is probably sufficient.
Give him a tenner...what are you having done to your lips?

Surely its not about you its about your daughter? I find the thought of ;tipping' a priest a bit weird, why would you tip a priest. I'm glad I'm not Christian….is this a wind up?
I hope tipping the priest has no similarities with tipping the velvet!
Never thought of tipping a priest. I’m not religious, mind. Put a 10 or 20 in the collection plate, maybe.
I find the concept of paying for a service that should be free a bit disconcerting. Is this normal in a church? To pay to be blessed? I thought Jesus didn't like that sort of thing and vaguely remember him throwing a wobbly with some scribes and pharoses.(sp)
do you have to pay for the service? if not i dont see a need to tip
You don't tip the Priest, the Priest gets paid by the Diocesan funds, never pay a priest for a blessing, if you are having a wedding ceremony or whatever, the money for that is usually for the heating of the church and maintainence but never tip the priest - it's just not done.
'I'm getting myself threaded and my lips done'...come on this is a wind up surely?
ps dont have threading. waxing hurt much less!
Ric.ror isn't known for wind ups.
I can't get an image of cow-tipping out my head - another odd thought to add to my odd-thought collection.

I've always fancied getting my eyebrows threaded.
Re lips and threading Ric-ror clearly wants to look her best on the day and acknowledged that was probably for a separate thread.
"I've always fancied getting my eyebrows threaded."
i'm telling you now dont do it woman!
Just the term 'threading' would be enough to put me off.
