Anyone here had any experiences with occult based religious beliefs or personally knew anyone who was involved with such? (such as Wicca, Paganism, or various magickal practices).
Ive known a few people over the years...mostly Wiccans... who have been, and they have been some of the most down to Earth, lovely people that you could meet. A far cry from the horror stories perpetrated by Christians that getting involved in the occult leads to death, insanity etc.
Personally, I have no belief in the occult (though in the past its something that I have looked into).
Just curious,
Thanks ;-)

I too am never going to be the mother now Rowan, at least not genetically, not literally. Perhaps a child will come to us in other ways but I can use her energy in a broader sense anyway I think, there are plenty of people and things that need nurturing, and yes in the real world we would get on like a house on fire I'm sure.
I feel lucky I've found the man I found (or who found me according to him) as he lets me flourish in my own way and is open to changing his own path in many ways to accommodate that. things are so much better when you're open to every possibility and I've stopped kicking and screaming against the things I don't like or didn't think I could deal with and now it's all far easier. x
I am sad that path has closed for you, but sometimes a path is blocked because your work lies elsewhere. I think I had better stop now before any more of the old ones explode.
I was very sad at the time, but it's brought us very much closer together, and at the moment despite all the difficulties that have come from that and other outside things we have going on, we're strong as steel now and nothing is going to mess that up even if it takes a while to sort out, which I'm sure it will. x
My six children, and eight soon to be nine grandchildren mean everything to me.
My eldest son, 40, lives happily with his lovely wife and two dogs, and although I always thought his life was incomplete without a child, my mistake, he is happy and complete and so well balanced.
I love children, but there are other paths to beauty.
There are Theland :) Plus you can give them back when they cry :) x
Ever tried Scouse sex?
"You awake? Come 'ere! "

"Put the light off and pull me nightie down when yerve finished!"
Lol Theland, no, but when two Rednecks break up they say 'Hey let's just be cousins' :)
Op, I have a great understanding of religion being an Angel, but once they're gone into an occult they is no saving them sometimes. Sense of humour gone etc... I can only think bless... 'em.
Dabbled with spiritualism but much prefer lagerism or beerism.
Meanwhile, back in the real world, I’ve known a several people who profess to dabbling in the occult. Odd bods to a man/woman. One worried lady, whose husband had taken to wandering the garden at night talking to something unseen, became rather more alarmed when he began to concoct potions which he stored in bottles under the sink. So concerned was she that she determined to thwart whatever evil might reside in those bottles, but how? Her solution? She wee’d in them. :o)
Like it .......probably consider something similar. I suspect he was unwell rather than an occult follower in the purest sense. I keep well away from the pentagram and potion brigade I swear most are in it for one of three reasons
A) they hope they will be initiated into a world of kinky sex
B) they are weak individuals who want money or power
C) they think it looks cool.

I know a few real goddess worshipping pagans, a couple of practising Wiccans and plenty like me who just tap into the path as an aid to self development. At worst they have an ageing hippie vibe. Kind and gentle folk every one. Well except me, they think I am a bit odd.
Rowan, he isn’t unwell. He’s actually a public figure, very well known in his field, and highly respected. He’s also an authority on Ancient Britain and Scandinavian folk law, and a man of great curiosity, so he was experimenting to see if it worked – or so he says. This tale, which was shared by his wife around my dinner table, caused great hilarity among that particular group of friends, all of whom are very practical and down to earth. He’s a man of little humour and is not accustomed to being ribbed about anything – but ribbed he well and truly was that night. Fortunately he took in it on the chin and we are all still friends. Much to his wife’s delight, he’s given the occult a miss since then.
Jesus! Fifty shades of beige.
I have practiced Wicca for many years. I don't mind answering your questions (but I don't stand for being mocked). What do you want to know?
Douglas, :o)
You get a lot of historians and folklorists who experiment with the Norse practices ( such as they are known or modernly acceptable) Naomi, you also get a lot of high profile people who do so too, mainly I think because they have everything else but continue to search for new things and the occult is one sphere that is open to them. Some are as Rowan suggests 'great pretenders' who once saw 'The Devil rides Out' and fancy a few busty wenches pandering to their every kinky whim and some more serious researchers or people seeking to improve their understanding of themselves and their place in the larger world. Glad you're friend didn't get his knickers in a twist and levelled himself out a bit x
I use to be into the Occult, i have occult tattoos (runes) that mean something to me personally and they protect me from certian spirits and energys. I believe the hidden knowledge was myself though. Everyone has their interpretations. Now, (as Kval would say) i'm a hethan but i believe in a higher energy than my own.
It's just Magic, K ;)
kvalidir, //Glad you're friend didn't get his knickers in a twist and levelled himself out a bit //

You misunderstand. He was always level. He was conducting an experiment, that's all.
Ah that makes sense then x
