I look at my local priest, I look at the Pope on TV.

Apart from a belief system and a different occupation and lifestyle choice - where is the difference between them and me?

We all have to shave our whiskers off, we both put our trousers on one leg at a time, we all think Megan Markle in Suits has a fabulous walk ...

so why should their belief in God and heaven be any more or less valid than mine?

Simple answer? It isn't.

Their view is different, but it does not make them right, and me wrong - just different.

The Catholic Church is the prime example of a mafia of superstition. The supreme achievement of the Catholic Church and others of all faiths is the creation of an after-life protection racket.

It never fails to both impress me and sicken me how effective the racket is, given that there is absolutely no credible evidence for life after death, or heaven, hell, awaiting compliant virgins, or even any kind of deity for that matter.

A true, if endlessly tragic, masterpiece of the exploitation of human gullibility.
