I found an app called My Fitness Pal and thought I'd share it with you.

It's basically a calorie counter. When you first install it you enter your vital stats then your goals and it calculates the amount of calories you should aim to eat each day to reach that goal. Then ever day you enter everything you eat and drink and it adds up all the calories in a little daily diary.

The best thing is that it has sooooo many foods pre-listed so you don't have to work out the calories and a barcode scanner so you can scan a packet and it brings up all the info for it.

You can also record your exercise and it works out how many calories you will work off.

I've been using it for the past 5 days and although it sounds silly, it makes it so much easier to see how much you're eating.

Does anyone else use it?

You should Rocky, should have said its free too. I actually enjoy updating mine every day to see how we'll I'm doing.
I mentioned it on another thread today. It's fab....so long as we are honest with it! lol xx

Oh sorry Voddy, didn't realise.

I try my best to be honest on it otherwise there isn't much point. Lol
Right, just installed it but don't know how much I weigh, I'll have to nip round my mum's or into Boots to find out.
Nooo don't be silly EB, it's no prob at all. It's a great wee app. xx

I think you can add the weight whenever you like Rocky, it's just a bit more accurate with it.
It seems almost the same as the website that I subscribe to.

I've found it is a really good way to lose weight as long as you log all exercise and all food and drink. Have lost 8lbs so far in less than a month :)

Wow, well done Daffy! It's easier when you can see it all down in print isn't it.

I think I've lost about 2lbs so far. But I guessed my weight when I first started it and later discovered I was about 2lbs heavier than I thought I was. Lol.

I entered in the app that I wanted to aim for 2lbs a week so it said I need to try and eat 1200 calories a day but it also tells you when you're not eating enough, etc.
I'm on 1100 calories a day but can eat more depending on the exercise I do. I use my exercise bike at a rate of 24 kmh for between 30-90 minutes per day which burns 240 kcal- 720 kcal, I can then add those calories to my daily intake if I wish. No food is banned as long as you don't go over your daily calorie allowance.
It's a good'un - a friend put me on to it. You have to stick to filling it in each day though - I fell by the wayside a couple of months ago :-(
Yes I know someone who used it and has lost almost a stone. Worth recommending. Good luck !
I used to use Myfitness Pal and was on and off for a couple of years.

Its still somewhere I go when I need a bit of discipline or to keep a food diary again, but when I used it regularly I found the constant recording of everything I ate made me think about food all of the time. I was often using up every last calorie allowed in a day and looking for ways to allow myself a piece of chocolate/cake etc.

We're all different, but I actually lost weight more successfully once I stopped counting calories and changed my diet altogether. No cake, chocolate, cheese, pastry, fat; very little bread but plenty of fruit and veg.

Good luck Evian I hope you lose whichever way you do it!
I wonder how many blokes have look at this but not posted ....?

Glad there's a few who seem to have used it successfully. I think it's great. Can't wait to see my progress in a few weeks if I stick to it.

You reckon there's a few Mick? (I thought you were going to ask how many calories are in a mars bar cake. Lol)
Well I've downloaded the app today, so I will let you know how I get on with it!
Question Author
Only just remembered I posted this.

Weighed myself today and I've lost 3lbs. But then I've only had 4 slices of toast in the last 48 hours so its probably not the best week to judge.
Whatever works for you is great.
I use it EB .... have been doing so for a while ... it's a great app. Not losing as quick as I would like, but it says 1-2lb a week is the right speed .... I want it gone quicker!!
