I heard 14 year old Malala Yousufzai who was shot by the Taliban described as another Rosa Parks. In a recording of an interview on the radio today, she said her ambition is to become a politician and work for social justice. Just as Rosa stood firm against racism, will Malila do the same and finally bring to an end Islam’s subjugation of women?

She might, but it's a slim chance. Could be!

Oh Waldo! I like it!! I don't do 'best answers', but you're going to get one.
wow Waldo, that is one powerful statement beautifully summed up.
Now, if more girls were taught how to read they could use that as their banner and hopefully help educate the ill-informed.
I hope so - but will she get the chance , with the taliban in the background , who I understand have vowed to kill her .
Screw 'em - they failed at point blank range. They're not exactly rocket scientists and that girl will have protection from now on.

The Taliban have reportedly been caught by the strength of feeling against them in Pakistan (http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/oct/15/

).
It is to be hoped that they seize the nettle and say that enough is enough.

Waldo, Your link doesn't work. Try this.

that would be an extraordinary connection, however i truly fear for her.
If she returns home what are her chances of a normal life, or normal life span?
[i] will Malila do the same and finally bring to an end Islam’s subjugation of women? [i]

No pressure there, then
as i mentioned on the other thread, i think this was an own goal by the extremists, i sincerely hope she goes on to do great things.
I hope she doesn't have to go home.....
jno, it just takes one to take that first step, and then others may well follow. Isn't that what Gandhi was all about.
she's taken the first step already, em, and at great personal cost. It seems a little unreasonable, from the comfort of a British easy chair, to suggest that she do more.
Don,t think she will return home em, hope she stays here and continues her work - although we have enough of our own home grown taliban in the UK.
i didn't suggest or post that she should return home. And i don't think she is a saviour of all womankind. However it's a small step, and perhaps others will follow her lead.
she could do great things, it doesn't have to be there.
Question Author
So do I, em - and I hope she gets all the support - and protection - she deserves.
I don't think she needs encouragement to do more. She has already decided her path in life.
it's a bloody crying shame it has to take a 14 year old girl to show some mettle, that they don't have to put up with the status quo. If she returns home i hope that they give her as much help, protection as possible.
I did not read your post as a suggestion she goes home em, I just stated my feelings - hope she recovers and continues - but she is so young.
