Is it just me or does anybody else hate Facebook. My wife and sister go on it, and it just seems like other "friends" are intent on trying to wind people up, status updates about how their kids are so wonderful, constant check-ins etc, bitchy comments and "keep up with the Jones'" attitudes. Why would people want all their so called "friends" they just checked in at Tescos?

Facebook is great. I get to speak to my daughter in Oz, free of charge. I have a massive family, it's the best way to keep in touch, see their pics and keep up to date with what they are up to.

Not everyone does stupid updates.
Oh, and why do you think it causes jealousy?

Some of the comments I have seen on there boasting about kids, holidays, families etc. I just think it is so fake = Fakebook
I'm not the jealous type so those kind of comments wouldn't register with me. I don't see it as boastful, I see it as proud.

I'm happy people are having nice holidays, I'm happy that their kids are doing well. Much better than negative comments.
you just have to be choosy about your friends (as in real life) i reckon
I agree with the OP, I'm piggin sick with jealousy over all of my US FB friends who keep using avatars of them cuddling up to Garth on photo opportunities or posting of seeing him live in Las Vegas or at the Calgary stampede or in his local hot chicken take away, pisses me right off.....swines
Not sure about jealousy - I think you have to be a jealous person in real life to let it affect you like that. Though I do think its a great platform for some people who like to brag about anything and everything they have got. It makes me laugh when some think we would be interested when they have eaten a cheese sandwich - very sad {:o(
I don't think it causes jealousy at all, Some people are just show-offs, I'm not jealous of them - nor even envious.
I know I've banged on about it before, but it's a generation thing - I dont do cyber-'friends'.

Having a full-time job and writing for three music magazines in my 'spare' time means that if i am on my computer outside work, I am bashing out deathless prose just ahead of the next deadline.

Interested viewers should check out the latest edition of Drummer magazine to see my latest work - in all good newsagents now.

Lol Towie - platform - very good identification. WHY do people constantly post about their medical condition of the day and why oh why do people post they have checked in at Heathrow going on holiday (especially those with a public wall)??? For the whole world to see I just dont understand it.......
I dont see the fascination with it people that are on that all day are waisting their life away, I mean you dont need to tell everyone everything. My hubby calls it the relationship wrecker lol
why does this stuff annoy you? I personally find facebook a bit of a time robber, I am thinking about deactivating :/
Because that's what they are doing. Some people. the less jealous kind, are interested.
surely ignorant people are just as daft in real life, with or without FB!

i love FB!

i have friends both locally and all over UK, and a few further afield, and it's lovely to see pics and hear news, for free!

got to agree Sheshe - people at work constantly updating their status, what they had for lunch, what they are doing at the weekend, constant check-ins here there and everywhere...........zzzzzzzzzzzz boring !!!!
I wish someone would tell people "like" doesn't cure cancer
I like to look in and see what my extended family across the globe are up to, would never get worked up or jealous of a plate of cookies or a new kitchen - life is too short to be annoyed about that.
Delete them then. Simple.
You know what I hate about FB is when someone suddenly puts "In a relationship", in order words "look at me I'm no longer single, or a loser" this can be very hurtful to an ex.
Elvis, that annoys me.
