I lived in Easterhouse, Glasgow, during the Council's 'Glasgow's Miles Better' campaign. I was unemployed for much of that time. It made me mad to see a smiling Mr Happy grinning as if everything was wonderful. Thatcher's Tory government had ground us down into unemployment and rough council schemes, and all the Labour Council would do is put up ridiculous posters about what a happy wonderful place Glasgow was. There were many felt the same as I did, I can tell you.
