I have to go to uni in Edinburgh or Manchester. Obviously Manchester is quite gay-friendly, but how about Edinburgh?

Do you mean the gay friendliness of the University or the actual city itself? The city is reknowned for it's vibrant gay community.
Question Author
Well, I think all universities are pretty gay-friendly, so yeah, the city itself.

What about Amsterdam and London for gay capital of Europe?
Anyway, seems all right. Cheers.
Edinburgh's sound -its really eclectic -I love it.Spent a weekend there just a few weeks back at the Caledonian Hotel -had a wonderful time.

Im sure there is a thriving gay community -just that i'm too boring and old to do the pubs and clubs lol

My son lives there-he graduated from Heriot-Watt -is that where you're thinking of going?
Question Author
Nah, University of Edinburgh. I'm trying to decide whether to put it as first or second choice on my UCAS. It's just the 5 years that's putting me off

Good Luck with whatever you choose -I know my son has never been happer studying and now working in Edinburgh -but hey i'm always going to biased as the Scottish education system is way better -no student fees/grants so you are better off from the word go.

Im exiting AB before i get the wrath-not from you but just the fact that yet again we are one step ahead lol

Question Author
Not exactly: I just don't want to go somewhere massively anti-gay.
As far as I can remember, i am sure that Edinburgh has a few gay bars and clubs - probably more now - not really my area of expertise though I was born and grew up in the city.

it is very cosmopolitan, and has a very low crime rate, but if you need a bit more excitement, you can be through in Glasgow fairly quickly.
