Why do people consider the internet serious business?

Honestly what should be taken so seriously on here?
Let's face it what you are looking at right now is a group of pixels arranged on a screen if memory serves so essentially it's taking pixels and actually making them pertinent to you.

Some pixels become friends and so are pertinent. The rest, well civility costs nothing.
Forgot to add, some are just numptys and are best just ignored.

Yes, I take it very seriously. AB has become important to me socially, as a source of advice, entertainment, sympathy, empathy, fun, sometimes even making me feel a little bit useful.
Before internet there were pen pals and telephones, and propping up the bar in the local. This is progress I guess.
Tinternet is just anther communication device. Just like you can ignore letters, texts or phonecalls, you can ignore, or get worked up about anonymous postings on an obscure website.

I don't think anyone here is 'taking the internet so seriously' We are using as easily available means to enjoy ourselves and communicate with each other.
