I've recently been given a mobile phone number for someone in Australia. It's 10 digits long and starts with 0. What dialling code do I need to put in front of it and do any of the other digits need to be omitted?

You might also find the following useful to vastly reduce the cost of your call

www.telediscount.co.uk

It's a cheap calls site. Look up the number for mobiles or landlines for the country of your choice, then dial the prefix number they give you, listen to the automated prompt, then dial your number and finish with the 'hash' (noughts and crosses) key. I rang friends in Brazil last night from my landline and it's three pence a minute!
Calls to Australia using telediscount are as follows:

To landlines 1 pence a minute. Dial 0844 861 7878.

To mobiles 13 pence a minute. Dial 0911 922 9595.

These prices are from landlines. I know that most mobile companies will surcharge you if you use your mobile to ring.
