we are friends with another couple and whilst we enjoiy their company we find that they want to monopolise us. they seemt o want to do stuff with us every single weekend, (friday, sat and sun often!) and always want to "book us in advance" .... how can i get em to understand (wqithout hurting their feelings) that we actually like time ALONE together?

The next time they invite you to join in their weekend plans tell them you all have already made plans.
Is it possibly because they don't want to spend time with each other?
you could do it in a slightly secretive way, like "guess what we are up to this weekend? " to her - and make up some kind of raunchy or romantic antic weekend where they will NOT wanna join in

figure - yup done that in the past - but they always want details of what, where etc we are going and then get miffed that we haven't invited them along!

MEGLET - u've hit it spot on - I think they don't enjoy eachother company - and hence want other folk along as a "distractioN"

Weeal ...that might work but what if they wanted to join in on a ruanchy weekend with us...ooooerrrr... scary!!
weeal, how do you know they wouldn't want to join in lol!!!
eve - This scenario would be my nightmare! Sorry but there's only one way people like this get the message, just be truthful with them! Tell them you need time on your own as a couple. If they take that the wrong way, then a plus is that you're rid of them!
My next suggestion was going to be that they were plucking up the courage to ask if you go in for swinging!

Maybe you could just make a joke of it, something along the lines of "I'm sure you two much be bored with us two by now so we're going to let you two have a weekend without us for once - and we won't take no for an answer!!"
tee hee, I never thought of that - better not take the risk lol
Next time tell them you and your hubby want to spend 'alone' time only with each other because you both have a bit of catching-up to do.
