I will be the unwanted reply! - try giving up alcohol! Alcohol doesn't help you sleep properly, it can drug you to sleep if you get drunk, but then you are not sleeping healthily and you'll feel worse. Try getting yourself into a calm state before you go to bed, no exciting TV etc, no coffee. Try reading something boring like the newspaper!!!! There's loads of advice available out there but no one will recommend alcohol.
i like to drink westons cider. they make a few different ciders some of which are still. "old rosie" is a nice one. i'v just bought a 3ltr box of westons vintage cider which has a nice kick at 7.4%.
Forgot to mention, drinking milk and listening to classical music or reading Financial Times usually does the trick .....

A cup of decaf coffee (instant is fine) with some baileys in it. It totally puts my lights out. It starts with my eyes and within minutes I am asleep wherever I sit! It is nearly like an allergic reaction - but in a good way!
